The Access Fund would not exist without the help of individual donors and the past and present support of the following organizations:

Partnerships

Washington Council of the Blind: Through a Washington Council of the Blind - logounique partnership, the Access Fund collaborates with the Washington Council of the Blind to offer zero interest equipment loans to WCB members. WCB provides the loan capital and the Access Fund administers the loan program for an hourly fee. Loans of up to $8,000 are available to WCB members (for at least six months) in good standing. The loans can be used for any assistive technology needed to mitigate the commonly understood effects of vision and/or hearing loss.

WCB is a statewide membership organization with 14 chapters. It offers programs and services to further its mission of helping individuals who are blind and visually impaired contribute to society with independence and dignity. WCB was the first major contributor to the Access Fund. Its $25,000 donation was used to establish a financial loan program individuals who are blind or visually impaired.

Washington Assistive Technology Act Program (WATAP): The Access Fund works closely with WATAP, which was established to provide resources and expertise to help people with disabilities in Washington select and acquire appropriate assistive technologies and related technology services. Among other things, WATAP offers assistive technology related trainings and demo’s. It also maintains an inventory of assistive technology devices available for short term loan to people with disabilities throughout the state for a small administrative fee.

You can find an online catalogue of available devices at: http://watap.org/tryout/borrowing.php. For more information and/or to arrange a device demo or loan, contact WATAP at: 1-800-214-8731.

WATAP, which is managed by the Center on Technology and Disabilities Studies at the University of Washington, is also an annual and much appreciated contributor to the Access Fund.
